”Optional start times”

Ålbæk

Map:                               Ålbæk revised 2010. Scale 1:10.000 (printed). Contours are 2.5m.

Control description:        IOF-symbols. Control descriptions tell you on or by what sort of terrain     feature the control is placed in the forest plus the number of the control.

Map with control descriptions will be handed out 2 minutes before start.

You can also have a loose control descriptions sheet, but only if you have a holder or case for it.

Update March 11th

There is still some snow in the areas of the race and it means that paths are difficult to see. It is therefore advised that beginners are accompanied by experienced runners.

Toilets:                              In assembly area. Follow signs. No toilets near the start.

Optional start:                 If you compete in classes D-10A, D-10B,  D-12B,

H-10A, H-10B,  H-12B, Beg1 and Beg2, you have ”optional start”. This means that you can choose when you want to start between 08.30 (first start of the day) and 11.30

Start:                               Next to the event office there will be a check station  with light so that you can see if your EMIT brikke is working.

If your brikke  is not working, you must go turn to the event office and rent a new card. It costs 15 DKK. per day.

The first runner starts at 08.30. You will find the start by following signs and red and blue plastic tape from the assembly area. The distance is about 600 m. There is only one starting point, so just follow other runners going to start. Simply join the queue about 15 min before the time you want to start.

When you want to start, enter the first stall, if there is room for you. Here you will find the cardboard back-up car on a board. If you have rented an EMIT brikke it will be there too. Fasten the back-up card on your EMIT-brikke. Make sure your name is on the back-up card. The officials will be there to show you how to do this.

One minute later enter stall two. This is where you can have an extra control descriptions sheet, if you have a case for them. There will be someone to assist you.

After one more minute (two minutes before start) your starting time will be checked  and you will get your map. You are now allowed to study your map for the remaining two minutes before start.

One minute before start you must go into the last stall. At the first bleep, 5 seconds before start, you must place your EMIT brikke on the start unit in the start stall. The side with the back-up card must be turned downward as you place the card on the red block on the control stand.

When you hear the long bleep, lift the brikke and you have started. Officials in the start stall will be pleased to assist you.

There is no transport of warm clothing back to the assembly area.

,

Electronic punching:       It is very important that the EMIT brikke  is punched firmly into  the unit.

In the forest:              The controls are marked with orange and white flags on a stand with at control unit.  Check that the code number on the control is the same as the one on your control description. Do not follow other runners, they may not be going where you want to go.

The controls are very close to each other. Check carefully to see if you are at the right control

Max.time:                       You must only use 2½ hours doing the course. If you cannot complete you must under all circumstances report to Finish

At finish:.                       Finishing time will be registered when the EMIT brikke is punched into the finish control at the finishing line.

After this go to Finish tent and have your brikke downloaded. A bit further down the line you will get leg times so that you can see how long you have been completing the course.

.

Remember to hand in your rented EMIT brikke. Take good care of  it. If it is lost you must pay a compensation of  400 DKK

You may keep your map after finish, but you must not show it to runners who have not yet started.

Prizes:                             On Saturday as well as Sunday there will be prizes for 1., 2. and 3 places in age groups D/H-16 and down.

Moreover there will be small prizes for all children who have had ”Optional start”.

There are no prizes for winners of the other classes.

Prizes will be handed out next to the event office in the assembly area as soon as possible after winners of the individual classes have been found.

.

Prizes will not be sent to home addresses

In case of accidents requiring medical assistance, please go to event office.

Enjoy your run.
